Eggxactly Breakfast and Deli in Whitehaven follows owner’s family legacy

Wendell Jackson grew up stocking shelves at his family’s grocery and deli, and now he’s following in his father’s footsteps with a restaurant and deli of his own.
Eggxactly Breakfast and Deli, 1248 Marlin Road in Whitehaven, officially opens Oct. 8.
He and his wife, Adrena, previously owned My Beauty and Barber’s Den in the same space and have spent the past two years renovating it to become a restaurant.
“I decided to close the barber and beauty shop down and go back to what I love doing – that is cooking,” Jackson said.

The restaurant will have signature dishes like turkey meatloaf, the Eggxactly chicken salad, turkey chili and chicken “stoup,” a soup-stew hybrid.
“An eclectic Southern cuisine, that’s what we like to think of it as,” Jackson said. “Something different for this area.”
Breakfast items will include freshly made pancakes and waffles, breakfast bowls, omelets, breakfast platters and sandwiches.
Tuesday through Friday, the lunch menu will run the “Eggxactly Meat and Three” option. Daily specials will include such options as turkey meatloaf, roasted chicken, Salisbury steak and barbecue jerk chicken.
The Jacksons hope to serve alcohol for brunch once they get their permit. The restaurant will be open Tuesday through Saturday 6 a.m.- 2 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
“We want this to more than just a restaurant,” Wendell said. “We want this to be a community hub where folks can come and get a great meal in a great atmosphere with great customer service.”
