MLB has a proposal to eliminate more than 40 minor-league affiliated teams; while the Memphis Triple-A team is not directly impacted, Redbirds owner Peter Freund's Short Season A team, the Williamsport Crosscutters, a Philadelphia Phillies affiliate, is on the preliminary hit list.
