After negotiations with organizations, Shelby County government has created two major changes to the bail system.
Sugarmon, who unseated Dan Michael in the Aug. 4 election, is the first African American to be elected as Shelby County Juvenile Court Judge. He will take office Sept. 1.
His parole hearing was Aug. 10 at Hardeman County Correctional Center in Whiteville, Tenn. The hearing officer recommended denial of parole based on the seriousness of the offense.
In two of the incidents, officers were struck or nearly struck by the suspects’ vehicles. In the third incident, an officer was hit in the chest by gunfire but was protected by his bulletproof vest.
She will be sworn-in Sept. 1 in Somerville. The district consists of Hardeman, Fayette, Lauderdale, McNairy and Tipton counties in West Tennessee.
Bolton was scheduled to perform at the Halloran Centre Saturday, Sept. 3, alongside Charisse and Courtney Little. A spokesperson for the theater group said the promoter hosting the event notified them Monday, Aug. 29, that Bolton’s performance has been canceled.

There have been 68 reported kidnappings or abductions in Memphis this year, although actual incidents are much lower than the reported number.

The body found in South Memphis on Labor Day has been identified as missing jogger Eliza Fletcher, police said Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Schoolteacher Eliza Fletcher was abducted during a daily run as she was passing the University of Memphis at Central Avenue and Zach H. Curlin Street.
