Identified after 40 years, there are questions about a woman’s body found on the side of the road in DeSoto County, including whether she could be a victim of the “Bible Belt Strangler.”
A woman was found incapacitated in her cell Friday, March 15, while in custody of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department.
On the evening of Jan. 24, 1985, an unidentified woman was found on the side of Highway 78 in Olive Branch, the apparent victim of a strangulation.

Two prisoners walked off from a DeSoto County nonprofit where they were working Tuesday, leading to a manhunt and an associated arrest.
