Germantown’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen will interview three people for the short-term vacancy in the suburb's school board’s Position 2 seat.

One of the applicants is a retired GMSD employee running unopposed for the position in August and November.
Hendricks is resigning about six months before the end of the term as his family will relocate. He was appointed to the GMSD board in 2025 to finish the term of Dr. Daniel Chatham.
While neither has kids in the district, they’ve been involved for many years.
“Education, to me, is the great equalizer,” said Scotty Hendricks Jr., who Germantown leaders appointed to the Board of Education. “There is nothing that prevents someone that has education from being able to figure out how to overcome obstacles.”
Germantown plans to appoint a new school board member by the end of January. Seven finalists were chosen after 14 applications were submitted.
The applicants are a mix of current GMSD parents, lifelong educators and community volunteers.
Last month,Dr. Daniel Chatham, a member of the board since his 2022 election, announced his intention to resign with about two years remain in his term.
