City leaders have discussed the debt limit several times lately as Germantown Municipal School District seeks to make Houston — the only high school in the municipal district — comparable to other suburban districts’ high schools.
“We can decide we have a medium-tier school system or a top-tier school system, and that determines how we have to fund it,” a Houston High alumnus and parent said.
With the city’s debt capacity limitations, the focus of Wednesday’s joint session shifted towards finding alternative funding measures.
