Pastor LaSimba Gray’s book “Out of Bounds” is a history of how golf played an integral role in Memphis’ gradual path to desegregation.
“Pine Hill needed a win,” Mayor Paul Young said at the opening of the new clubhouse, which overlooks the revamped golf course in Longview Heights that opened last June.
Pine Hill, which has five new holes and two new lakes among its improvements, is scheduled to open in early June. Audubon, which is also undergoing major renovations, is slated to open in June 2024.
The Audubon Park golf course will change dramatically with the redesign; every hole will be part of the project and the course itself will be expanded.
Two notable Memphis golf courses are in different stages of the renovation process and, once they are completed, both are likely to excite regular (and future) golfers.
The $5 million project not only will provide a complete makeover of the old golf course in South Memphis, but build a new golf house in a new place for easier access.
