The Halloran Centre’s mostly free arts programs have produced a Broadway performer, a singer and songwriter and a nationally touring star. Now, they’re back on the main stage.
Since 1984, the Orpheum Theatre has brought Broadway shows to Memphis audiences. Now, Memphis audiences could help send a show to Broadway.
Funding will go toward three nonprofits with programs to support children dealing with trauma, death and stress through stage performances, art classes and instruments.
“We All We Got: A Binghampton Play” is the culmination of an inaugural Orpheum community playmaking program called Neighborhood Play.
The Orpheum Theatre Group is scouting possible locations for a 1,000-seat Halloran Center For Performing Arts & Education that would serve northeast Shelby County.
A new set of stars like the Orpheum’s are on display near Beale Street.
“Every voice matters,” said the vice president of education and communication for the Orpheum Theatre Group and a longtime volunteer with SAY.
