After more than 40 years, Collierville thinks it is time to update its beer ordinance, eliminating — among other things — the restriction on proximity to churches.
The beer rules Collierville has used since 1983 are “so antiquated and so outdated and so not fair,” Alderman Nick Robbins said.
Two Germantown restaurants were caught selling beer to minors during a routine sting operation by the Germantown Police Department.
Collierville leaders consider allowing Collierville Arts Council to sell beer and wine at The Harrell Performing Arts Theatre productions. “I think this would completely change the arts experience at the Harrell Theatre,” said the council chairman.
Kroger in Germantown will not be allowed to sell beer Monday through Thursday, Jan. 16-19, 2023.
The change in beer permit rules takes effect immediately within the city of Memphis and last until the declaration of a civil emergency is over.
Collierville is looking to amend its beer ordinance. The amendments to be considered Monday are clarifications, according to town officials.
Hook Point Brewing Co. is confident it will receive town approval and can open near Collierville’s Town Square in 2020. The facility is on Mt. Pleasant Road.
