Those in favor of the proposed House Bill 2043, which would eliminate the state tax on groceries if it passes, got together Saturday — where else? — outside a supermarket.
Holiday bakers have just a few more days to stock up on tax-free flour, sugar, butter and other supplies. Most food and ingredients used to prepare food are exempt from sales tax.

Both suburbs unanimously passed similar resolutions in their respective meetings Monday, taking a formal yet strong stance on the matter.
The town will receive its portion of December sales tax at the end of this month. So the nearly $14 million collected thus far doesn’t account for the holiday spending.
