Congress slashes money for Memphis NPR, PBS and WYXR

WKNO-TV is suddenly facing the loss of 21% of its budget after Congress passed a bill that removes $1.1 billion from public broadcasting.
WYXR 91.7 FM, the relatively new nonprofit community radio station housed in Crosstown Concourse, is facing a similar problem with the expected loss of more than 10% of its budget.
WKNO President Charles McLarty said the station is “going to have to relook at everything that we’re doing and see how do we get everything done.”
