Medical crisis cut Memphis native’s time on Netflix reality show

Native Memphian Sean Jacobs appeared in the first three episodes of Netflix’s original series “Outlast: The Jungle” before his plan to leave Panama with $1 million was cut short by a medical emergency.

“I’m either going to leave with the money or it’s going to be a medevac, and that’s exactly what happened,” Jacobs said.

The White Station High alumnus took an unconscious, face-first fall into a fire pit with a vat of boiling water hovering over the flames. The resulting injuries led Jacobs to leave the game site by helicopter, headed for hospitalization.
