Country music legend Willie Nelson is bringing his Outlaw Music Festival to Southaven’s BankPlus Amphitheater on Oct. 14.
Willie Nelson & Family, The Avett Brothers, Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs and Elizabeth Cook are scheduled to perform. Nelson’s youngest son, Micah Nelson, who performs under the name Particle Kid, will also take the stage.
Todd Mastry, executive director of BankPlus Amphitheater and Landers Center, said he was “very excited to be able to bring a show that size and with the caliber of an artist like Willie Nelson” to the Southaven venue, which reopened last week after a $10 million renovation.
The BankPlus Amphitheater show is one of 16 additional tour stops Nelson announced this week, including stops in Brandon, Mississippi, outside of Jackson and Franklin’s FirstBank Amphitheater near Nashville, among other locales, as part of the annual touring festival.
“I am so thrilled to announce these additional dates for our 2023 Outlaw Music Festival Tour,” Nelson said in a press release. “I can’t wait to keep the celebration of my 90th birthday going into the fall with this great lineup of artists, my friends and family, and of course, the amazing fans.”
The announcement comes as the Texas-born Country Music Hall of Famer prepares to commemorate his 90th birthday with a two-day music celebration at the Hollywood Bowl April 29-30.
The Outlaw Music Festival, which began as a one-off event in 2016 before becoming an annual touring franchise, features a dynamic lineup of some of the biggest acts in country, folk, blues and rock music. Past touring acts have included Robert Plant, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, ZZ Top and Bonnie Raitt, among others.
This year’s festival is billed as the largest-ever tour, according to event organizers Blackbird Presents.
Tickets for the Southaven show go on sale Friday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.
