Jeff Buckley lives on and on, including in Memphis

When Samatha Quattlebaum saw the renovations at the home at 93 N. Rembert St. in Midtown, she found a piece of notebook paper and wrote an impassioned, full-page letter in pencil.
She tucked the letter into the door and fervently hoped for a reply in the affirmative.
“It would be an absolute dream to have an opportunity to own this home,” Quattlebaum wrote, begging for the chance to buy an 873-square-foot, 104-year-old home that stands out from every other home in the area for one simple reason:
Jeff Buckley lived there when he died.
“When I saw that there was a little bit of renovations happening on the house, I thought I would take a chance and write a letter,” said Quattlebaum, who ended the letter with the words “my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder,” a Buckley lyric from the song “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over.”
She hasn’t gotten the reply she was hoping for yet from developers David Lorrison and Eric Goode. The pair bought the home for $143,800 in March with plans to renovate and sell it. However, due to the house’s dilapidated state and the ballooning renovation costs, the developers have pivoted and are now planning to rent it out through Airbnb. The listing is expected to be available in the coming days.
