For the third and final time, Emerald Theatre Company will present “The Western Park Album,” written by late Memphian and local theater stalwart Howell Pearre. Hal Harmon, co-artistic director of Emerald Theatre and director of “Western Park,” first met Pearre in the 1990s. Their close friendship began when the playwright asked Harmon to direct his play “Dragon Medicine” at the old Circuit Playhouse at 1705 Poplar Ave.

It was Harmon’s first time to direct. “I was young, and I didn’t have the nerve to tell him I never directed a thing in my life,” he said.

Harmon and Emerald Theatre founder, Den-Nickolas Schaeffer-Smith, are in their 27th season. The group stages productions at Theatreworks at 2085 Monroe Ave. in Overton Square.
