A week into rehearsals of Crosstown High School’s fall play, “Twelve Angry Jurors,” celebrated filmmaker Craig Brewer came to the school and met the cast and crew. Some of them already knew him, because his daughter, Wren, is a senior at Crosstown and part of the show.
But the news they got was still surprising.
As it turned out, Brewer wasn’t just visiting — he was the new director of the play, which opened Thursday, Nov. 13, and includes performances through Sunday, Nov. 16.
Brewer directed movies such as “Hustle & Flow,” “Coming 2 America,” and the upcoming feature “Song Sung Blue.” He has worked with Hollywood icons such as Samuel L. Jackson, Eddie Murphy and Hugh Jackman. Now, he was going to work with the students of Crosstown High.
