Photographer spends year capturing the seasons in historic cemetery
Memphis photographer Murray Riss admires the detail of the Jewish Tree of Life symbol on the gravestone of Gabriel Baum, who was buried in 1885, while visiting Temple Israel Cemetery in South Memphis on Oct. 29, 2019. The 78 year old took 12,000 images over the four seasons of one year at the cemetery, and 200 photos are featured in the new book "Beloved." (Patrick Lantrip/Daily Memphian)
Photographer Murray Riss took an assignment to capture the beauty of historic Temple Israel Cemetery. Over the course of a year, Riss found a lot of life among the graves.
