The Greater Memphis Chamber is opening its formerly members-only Lunch in the Know small business series to the public, in webinar format, starting at noon Thursday, April 16.

The series, formerly held monthly at Baptist Memorial Healthcare in East Memphis, has pivoted to a twice-weekly, free webinar to meet community needs during the coronavirus pandemic.

It kicks off with Marshall Martin, senior coach with business coaching firm Petra Coach, in a presentation called “Taking your Business from Defense to Offense in Times of Disruption.” Participants can register here for the webinar on Zoom.

Next up at noon Tuesday, April 20, is “2H 2020: Shaping your Recovery in the Second Half,” featuring a macroeconomic outlook by David Waddell and strategic individual and business planning insights by Teresa Bailey, both of Waddell & Associates wealth management.

“Our Lunch in the Know program has always featured presentations from some of the best and brightest local business leaders addressing important issues for small business success,” Greater Memphis Chamber president and chief executive Beverly Robertson said.

“In the age of COVID-19, we see this program as an invaluable resource to the entire business community and we are working to bring in experts that can help our businesses be as resilient as possible,” Robertson said.

Susan Stephenson, co-chair and president of Independent Bank, sponsor, said, “Small business is the heartbeat of this city. As a sponsor of the Chamber’s small business council, we are particularly proud to be able to bring this program directly to the small business owners during this challenging time.”

Other supporters are Baptist, event sponsor, and Southland Casino Racing, program sponsor.

The chamber has presented 20 free webinars since March 12 on topics ranging from Small Business Administration loan program details to a session by ProTech on working remotely.

The focus on Lunch in the Know will be helping the business community prepare to move forward.

Past presenters in the live series have included Epicenter’s Leslie Lynn Smith, Muddy’s Kat Gordon and Dr. Keith Norman of Baptist Healthcare.

The webinars will be archived and available on the chamber’s website.
