Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris announced Tuesday that the “Our Beautiful Comeback” grant program for close-contact businesses is expanding to all beauty professionals.
All licensed cosmetologists, barbers and stylists are eligible to apply for $500 awards to offset loss of revenue and cope with the expense of heightened safety measures these businesses must have in place to reopen.
Business owners are still eligible for $2,000 under the original program.
Harris said that the county has distributed $600,000; about $400,000 is still left.
In the “Share The Tab” restaurant program, Harris said 30 restaurants have been notified they will receive $10,000 grants. The total program funding is about $500,000.
Both programs are funded by CARES Act funds allocated to Shelby County.
