City, Friends of the Library at standstill about who controls $800K

Negotiations between Memphis Public Libraries and its non-profit partner Friends of the Library remain stalled as the two organizations disagree on who controls nearly $800,000.
The dispute began when the agreement between the library and the non-profit ended earlier this year, and city officials asked the Friends of the Library to end its volunteer activities inside library branches and transfer the money to the city, according to Friends officials.
