Former UTHSC chair sues school to get job back

The former chair of the occupational therapy department at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center filed a federal lawsuit Friday, Aug. 7, against the school over her departure earlier this year, arguing that she never intended to resign and that she wants her job back.
Anne Zachry was one of six faculty members to leave the occupational therapy department over allegations that the university would not address repeated student and faculty complaints against another faculty member.
The lawsuit names UTHSC Chancellor Peter Buckley and UTHSC Dean Ashley Harkrider as defendants in their official capacities. The lawsuit does not specify any monetary damages beyond costs and attorney fees, but adds that Zachry reserves the right to seek such damages in the future.
