John A. Smith, a trucking-industry veteran and a FedEx Corp. insider considered one of the company’s best operators, will lead the company’s FedEx Freight spinoff.
Smith is currently COO of FedEx’s ground operations in the U.S. and Canada.
The company also recently announced Memphian R. Brad Martin will serve as chairman of the FedEx Freight board of directors. Both positions will be effective when the spinoff of FedEx Freight is complete, likely in June 2026.
