Memphis airport board approves contract for new baggage-inspection system

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority on Thursday, April 16, unanimously approved just more than $90 million for a new baggage-handling and inspection system.

Airport officials told the MSCAA board the new system should streamline that aspect of operations.

Terry Blue, MSCAA president and CEO, told the board based on discussions he’s had with Transportation Security Administration officials, the TSA is anticipated to contribute more than $40 million to costs.
