Regional hospital bed usage has increased slightly today, while the number of COVID-positive patients in intensive care units remained at around 120, keeping in line with the past week.

As of Monday, August 3, 90% of regional ICU and acute care beds are being used, according to the state’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System, compared to 88% of ICU beds and acute care beds the day prior.

Of the 390 patients in regional ICUs, 118 are COVID-positive and 26 are suspected of having the virus, meaning that about 37% are either COVID-positive or under investigation for the virus.

In addition, 45 regional ICU beds are still available. 

Of the 2,158 patients in regional acute care, 224 are COVID-positive and 196 are suspected of having the virus, meaning that 19% are either COVID-positive or under investigation for the virus.

And 247 regional acute care beds are available. 

The data includes hospitals in Shelby, Lauderdale and Tipton counties in Tennessee, Crittenden County, Arkansas and DeSoto County, Mississippi. 

Shelby County has 22,120 coronavirus cases, including 16,799 recoveries and 286 deaths, the Shelby County Health Department reported Tuesday, August 4. There are 5,035 active cases.

The Health Department reported 207 new coronavirus cases Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 1,368 tests. Two new deaths were reported.

Nearly 210,000 (209,863) coronavirus tests have been administered in Shelby County.

The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.

As of Monday, August 3, the agency reported 110,636 coronavirus cases, including 1,092 deaths, 4,808 hospitalizations and 70,878 recoveries.

In Tennessee, 1.6 million coronavirus tests have been administered.
