Coronavirus: 7-day case average continues downward trajectory

The Shelby County Health Department reported 264 new coronavirus cases and two new related deaths on Friday, August 7.

Those 264 cases come from 1,660 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of about 16%. 

Across area hospitals, there are 37 ICU beds available, according to Healthcare Resource Tracking System data. There are also 255 acute care beds available. 

Shelby County’s reported total is now 22,816 coronavirus cases, including 18,182 recoveries and 299 deaths. There are currently 4,335 active cases.

The Tennessee Department of Health reports statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.

As of Thursday, August 6, the agency reported 116,350 coronavirus cases including 1,186 deaths, 5,109 hospitalizations and 77,558 recoveries.
