Coronavirus: Local ICU numbers inch up

The Shelby County Health Department reported 247 new coronavirus cases and four new related deaths on Tuesday, Aug. 11. And the state’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System reported 92% of area acute care and 91% of area intensive care unit hospital beds are now in use, as of Aug. 10. 

The day’s new reported cases come from 2,334 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 10.6%. 

Across area hospitals, there were 39 ICU beds available, according to HRTS data, as of Aug. 10. There were also 195 acute care beds available. 

Shelby County’s reported total is now 24,057 coronavirus cases, including 19,339 recoveries and 308 deaths. There are currently 4,410 active cases.

The Tennessee Department of Health reports statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.

As of Monday, Aug. 10, the agency reported 123,914 coronavirus cases, 1,233 deaths, 5,339 hospitalizations and 83,170 recoveries.

More than 1.7 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
