Coronavirus: Less than 3% of new tests positive

Less than 3% of new reported coronavirus tests were positive, according to the latest Shelby County Health Department data.
Monday’s 95 new coronavirus cases came from 4,165 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 2.3%.
The agency also reported three new coronavirus related deaths on Monday, Oct. 5.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 32,048 cases, including 30,293 inactive cases/recoveries, 1,267 active cases and 488 deaths.
In Shelby County, 466,813 tests have been administered and 282,342 individuals have been tested. The numbers differ because the total number of tests includes people who have been tested multiple times.
As of 5 p.m. Oct. 4, there were 154 COVID-positive people in local hospital beds, per state data; 54 of those were in intensive care units.
According to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System, 85% of area ICU and area acute care beds were in use.
About 16% of area ICU patients were either COVID-positive (54) or suspected of having the virus (1). About 6% of area acute care patients were either COVID-positive (100) or suspected of having the virus (28).
And 63 ICU and 360 acute care beds were available.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Sunday, Oct. 4, the agency reported 201,210 coronavirus cases, including 2,577 deaths, 791 current hospitalizations and 184,404 inactive cases/recoveries.
Nearly 3 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
