Shelby County coronavirus case total grows by only 200 today

The Shelby County Health Department reported 211 new coronavirus cases and three new related deaths on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The 211 cases come from 2,524 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 8.4%.

In Shelby County, 544,443 coronavirus tests have been administered; 8% of those tests have returned a positive result. And 315,615 people have been tested for coronavirus; 12% have received a positive result. (Some people have been tested more than once, which accounts for the total numbers differing.)
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 37,004 cases including 33,528 inactive cases (recoveries), 2,907 active cases and 569 deaths.
Hospital numbers from 5 p.m. Tuesday were not available from the Health Department. The agency said that was due to “technical difficulties” at several facilities, but that hospital data from both Tuesday and Wednesday would be included in tomorrow’s update.
Tennessee’s Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Tuesday, the agency reported 251,774 coronavirus cases, including 3,207 deaths, 1,223 current hospitalizations and 222,348 inactive cases (recoveries).
About 3.6 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
