Coronavirus: More than 250 cases added to total

Shelby County added more than 250 coronavirus cases to its total; but no new deaths were reported today.
The Shelby County Health Department reported 265 new COVID-positive test results and no related deaths on Thursday, Nov. 5.
The 265 cases come from 2,538 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 10.4%.

In Shelby County, 325,096 people have been tested for coronavirus; 12% have received positive results. And 566,872 tests have been performed; 8% of those have had positive results. (The numbers differ because some people have been tested more than once.)
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 38,741 cases, including 35,452 inactive cases (recoveries), 2,709 active cases and 580 deaths.
There were 307 COVID-positive patients in area hospitals as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System; 88 of those were in intensive care units.
According to the HRTS, 88% of area ICU and acute care beds were in use.
About 24% of area ICU patients were either COVID-positive (88) or suspected of having coronavirus (1). About 11% of area acute care patients were either COVID-positive (219) or suspected of having coronavirus (24).
The Tennessee Department of Health reports statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m.
As of Wednesday, the agency reported 269,802 coronavirus cases, including 3,478 deaths, 1,537 current hospitalizations and 240,587 inactive cases (recoveries).
More than 3.7 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
