Coronavirus: Nearly 270 cases added to total

After peaks and valleys, the number of new coronavirus cases is again in the 250-300 range.

The Shelby County Health Department reported 268 new coronavirus cases and two new deaths on Friday, Nov. 13.

The 268 cases come from 2,665 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 10%.

Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 41,393 cases, including 37,682 inactive cases (recoveries), 3,105 active cases and 606 deaths.

There were 376 COVID-positive patients in area hospitals as of 5 p.m. Thursday, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System; 89 were in intensive care units.

According to the HRTS, 90% of area ICU beds and 89% of area acute care beds were in use.

About 24% of area ICU patients were either COVID-positive (89) or suspected of having coronavirus (6). About 15% of area acute care patients were either COVID-positive (287) or suspected of having coronavirus (28).

And 44 area ICU and 257 area acute care beds were available.

Tennessee’s Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus data at 2 p.m. daily.

As of Thursday, Nov. 12, the agency reported 296,725 coronavirus cases, including 3,788 deaths, 1,749 current hospitalizations and 262,527 inactive cases (recoveries).

About 4 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
