Coronavirus: Eleven new deaths reported

The number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in Shelby County has risen by almost 4,000 since Thursday’s update.
According to Shelby County Health Department data there have been 54,860 doses administered: 41,287 people have received one dose and 13,573 who have received both doses.
The agency reported 270 new coronavirus cases and 11 new related deaths on Friday, Jan. 29.
That brings Shelby County’s reported total to 81,927 cases, which includes 76,482 recoveries, 4,193 active cases and 1,252 deaths.
The 270 cases come from 2,837 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 10.5%.
Hospital capacity figures were not available for Thursday. The Health Department said information for Thursday through Sunday would be included in Monday’s update.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Thursday, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total was 717,583, including 9,417 deaths, 1,857 current hospitalizations and 672,110 recoveries.
About 6.2 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
