Coronavirus: 501 new cases and two additional deaths

The Shelby County Health Department reported 501 new coronavirus cases and two additional virus-related deaths Saturday, Jan. 30.

Active cases in Shelby County stand at 4,153.

Since March, the Health Department has reported 82,428 total coronavirus cases and 1,254 deaths, classifying 77,021 cases as inactive/recovered.

A total of 946,303 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Shelby County, yielding an 10% positivity rate.

According to Shelby County Health Department data as of Thursday, there have been 54,860 doses of vaccine administered: 41,287 who have received one dose and 13,573 who have received both doses.

Hospital capacity figures were not available for Friday. The Health Department said information for Thursday through Sunday would be included in Monday’s update. 

Tennessee Department of Health reported 2,251 additional cases Saturday, bringing the total since March to 724,742. One hundred thirteen more deaths were reported, for a total of 9,574 Tennesseans who’ve died while testing positive for COVID-19.
