Coronavirus: Area sees second day of less than 200 new cases
According to the latest Shelby County Health Department data, 62,951 people in Shelby County have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose; 23,136 people have received both COVID-19 vaccine doses, meaning they are fully vaccinated.
And 86,087 total doses have been administered in Shelby County.
At the present time, Shelby County is vaccinating phases 1a1, 1a2 and those age 70 and up, on an appointment-only basis. Slots are currently filled, but people can check online or call (901) 222-SHOT (7468) to be notified when vaccine appointments are available. People can also sign up for the VaxQueue standby list.
The Shelby County Health Department reported 170 new coronavirus cases and 11 new coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday.
Those case numbers continue a downward trend that began in January.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 85,404 cases, including 81,002 inactive cases (recoveries), 3,004 active cases and 1,398 deaths.
On Wednesday, Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System was not able to provide information about available beds in the area. Information was pending at the time of publication.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of February 9, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total is 747,462 cases, including 10,631 deaths, 1,293 current hospitalizations and 710,742 inactive cases (recoveries).
About 6,495,734 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
