$10 Deal: Pop’s Tamales made authentic Mississippi Delta style
Lee Crumb (right), owner of Pop's Tamales, and Joyce Shannon (left), a cook at Pop's Tamales, mix in some salt with ground beef as they season meat for cooking. The Orange Mound restaurant is a local hot spot known for serving both hot and mild flavor tamales. (Houston Cofield/Daily Memphian file)
At $2 apiece, packed with beef and spice, Pop’s Tamales are one of the city’s best deals. And getting them, from Pop’s cash-only little Orange Mound shop, is an experience unto itself.
