Jigsaw: Elvis fans can’t help falling in love
If there were ever any fears that the Elvis phenomenon might diminish over time, that the cash cow that is Graceland might one day become forlorn and forgotten, a quick visit to the Soundstage at Graceland Saturday night should have quickly dispelled that notion.
In what must have been close to a sell-out, more than 2,000 people packed the venue to hear Elvis’ granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, talk about the book she co-wrote with her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, called “From Here to the Great Unknown.”
Keough, of course, never met her famous grandfather and has few if any real connections to Memphis beyond visits as a child and being the heir to Graceland. But that didn’t stop the Elvis faithful from trekking to Whitehaven to hear Keough talk about her book in conversation with her friend, Nicole Richie. For $40, fans got a ticket to the event and an autographed copy of the book.
