For all of May and into June, the Cooper-Young Garden Club has organized Experience Memphis Gardens, a free, citywide event that encompasses tours of 270 different gardens in 35 neighborhoods.
“You’re getting people to look at their whole space,” said Experience Memphis Gardens founder and co-chair Kim Halyak. “It makes a difference in a neighborhood, and if you get house after house doing that, then suddenly your street, the flavor changes because everybody’s out working in their yard. They’re meeting each other and being creative.”
