The throwdown started with something relatively easy: latte art hearts. 

Then the remaining baristas got to show off their own designs — tulips, swans, smiley faces — with one champion taking home coffee beans from Rigby Roastery, an eight-cup siphon, other prizes furnished by Barista Magazine — and bragging rights. 

Grind City Coffee gathered baristas and their fans from across the Mid-South for a bracket-style, freehand latte art competition Sunday, Dec. 7, at City & State on Broad Avenue.
