Daily Jigsaw: Radio silence
CBS Radio News went silent Friday, May 22, after defining radio news across the U.S. for nearly a century.
The top-of-the-hour newscast, and all the network’s other broadcasting that’s aired on more than 1,000 radio stations across the country, vanished amid larger changes underway in the radio-news world.
The first sign of those changes began when people who know what a TV reporter does and what a newspaper reporter does started to get fuzzy about the job of a radio reporter.
Radio news is where I started this thing called a career with 22 years across three Memphis radio stations: WLYX, WHBQ and WREC.
