Daily Jigsaw: A street fit for a King

Memphis officially cemented a piece of wrestling royalty into its geography Thursday, Aug. 20, unveiling the newly designated honorary Jerry “The King” Lawler Street.

Under a hot summer sun, the Treadwell Middle School band and cheerleaders hyped up a crowd in Grahamwood near the intersection of Homer Street and Given Avenue.

A wrestling ring was set up directly behind the podium, acting as a fitting backdrop as members of the Memphis City Council honored the WWE Hall of Famer.

The Memphis City Council passed a resolution in June to rename a portion of Homer Street, between Given and Rhea avenues, for Lawler.
