MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Oct. 22, 2026, Division 2-AA state volleyball title match between Briarcrest and Christ Presbyterian Academy played out much as Saints coach April Jauregui expected.

The finish was exactly what she’d hoped for. But not before giving her team a stern reminder of what it is.

Led by a Most Valuable Player performance from outside hitter Ashari Jenkins, the Saints closed out a determined group of young Lions, winning the deciding fifth set 15-9. And while Jauregui wouldn’t put it in these exact terms, it’s a dynasty that Joan Collins would be envious of.

Briarcrest (32-7) won for the second straight year in Tennessee’s larger of its two private-school divisions, the fourth time in the last five and the eighth since 2016. It’s the program’s 13th championship overall.
