Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland has continued the citywide curfew into Friday evening, starting at 10 p.m. and ending Saturday morning at 5 a.m.

The curfew, renewed on a daily basis by executive order, has been in effect since Monday. The city state of civil emergency by Strickland related to the curfew is scheduled to be in effect through Monday, June 8.

Strickland signed both orders following a violent end to a protest Sunday, May 31 that ended with the arrest of 31 people and broken windows at several Downtown businesses.
