Daily coronavirus count adds 120 cases

According to info from the Shelby County Health Department, 120 people were confirmed with COVID-19 as of this morning. The area also saw one additional death in the numbers released June 19, 2020. 

Almost 1,200 coronavirus tests were given yesterday — 1,190, to be exact. That gives the area a positivity rate of just over 10% for the day. 

The recent overall positivity rate has been hovering around 7%.


Health Dept.: Holding festivals not prudent in 2020


As 120 people were added to the case count, 107 were also deemed to have recovered between yesterday and today. In total, more than 5,000 people have gotten the virus and recovered since the beginning of the local outbreak. 

There are currently more than 2,000 active COVID-19 cases in Shelby County. 

The Tennessee Department of Health reports statewide figures at 2 p.m. daily.
