Coronavirus: No new deaths reported

The Shelby County Health Department reported 362 new coronavirus cases and no new coronavirus-related deaths on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Those 362 cases come from 2,501 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 14.5%.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 78,382 cases, including 70,601 inactive cases (recoveries), 6,641 active cases and 1,140 deaths.
There were 518 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds as of 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System.
According to the HRTS, 93% of area ICU and 87% of area acute care beds were in use.
About 36% of patients in area ICU beds were COVID-positive (136) or suspected of having the coronavirus (6). About 20% of patients in area acute care beds were either COVID-positive (382) or suspected of having the coronavirus (23).
And 28 area ICU and 293 area acute care beds were available.
Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.
The capacity figures are inclusive of all hospital facilities in Shelby, Tipton and Lauderdale counties in Tennessee as well as facilities in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and DeSoto County, Mississippi.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Jan. 18, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total is 687,751 cases, including 8,430 deaths, 2,660 current hospitalizations and 614,720 inactive cases.
More than six million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
The Shelby County Health Department is continuing vaccinations of people who are in phase 1a1, funeral/mortuary workers and those age 75 and older at the Pipkin Building, on an appointment-only basis.
January appointments are filled; the agency has said it will announce when more signups are available.
As of Jan. 14, 1.9% of Shelby County residents had received only one coronavirus vaccine dose, according to the Tennessee Department of Health. Another 1.36% had received both doses, according to the same data.
According to the Shelby County Health Department, as of Jan. 11, 24,195 people in Shelby County had received at least one coronavirus vaccine dose.
