Coronavirus: 414 new cases in Shelby County, 30 new deaths

The Shelby County Health Department reported 414 new coronavirus cases and 30 additional virus-related deaths Friday, Feb. 5.

Active cases in Shelby County stand at 3,378.


Disparities glaring in vaccines given to 75 and older


Since March, the Health Department has reported 84,123 total coronavirus cases and 1,348 deaths, classifying 79,397 cases as inactive/recovered.

A total of 965,276 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Shelby County, yielding an 10% positivity rate.

According to Shelby County Health Department data as of Thursday, there have been 71,017 total doses administered: 52,231 people who have received one dose and 18,786 who have received both doses.

Tennessee Department of Health has reported 3,154 additional cases Thursday, bringing the total in the state since March to 736,370. One hundred sixty-nine more deaths were reported, for a total of 10,202 Tennesseans who’ve died while testing positive for COVID-19.

There were 217 COVID-positive patients in Memphis-area hospital beds as of 5 p.m. Thursday, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System. 

According to the HRTS, 93% of area ICU and 90% of area acute care beds were in use.
