SCS to vote on school closures next week
“It’s easy to say wait when it’s somebody else’s child,” said Shelby County Schools superintendent Joris Ray, seen here in April 2021. “We can’t wait. I’m tired of waiting. Our children need support and help now.” (Patrick Lantrip/Daily Memphian file)
Shelby County Schools will formally recommend the closures of Shady Grove Elementary and Alton Elementary Schools. The changes will go to a vote at the board’s business meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
