Six apply for appointment to vacant state Senate seat
The Shelby County Commission will fill the remainder of the term of office of former state Sen. Katrina Robinson at a special March 3 meeting. Robinson, seen here in 2020, was expelled from the Senate earlier in February following her conviction on federal wire fraud charges. (Mark Weber/Daily Memphian file)
Four of the six applicants have pulled and/or filed petitions to run for a full 4-year term in the Senate seat. In other action, the commission approved funding for juvenile counselors in police precincts.
