Just City report says more juvenile justice reform is needed
In 2012, the U.S. Department of Justice investigated the Shelby County Juvenile Court system and found racial inequities and unsafe conditions, among other issues. Just City requested the help from Joshua Perry, former Executive Director of the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights, to conduct research. The current district attorney and juvenile court judge both question the timing of the report, however.
