Warren makes early campaign stop in Memphis Sunday

By Published: March 13, 2019 11:35 AM CT

Democratic presidential contender Elizabeth Warren will make an early campaign stop in Memphis Sunday at Douglass High School.

The “organizing event” by the Massachusetts senator is one in a series of southern stops that include a televised CNN town hall forum Monday in Jackson, Mississippi, and another organizing event Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama.

It is the first southern campaign swing for Warren since she formally announced her candidacy in February.

Tennessee and Alabama are among 10 states holding presidential primary elections March 3, 2020.

The announcement of the Memphis event on Warren’s Facebook campaign page says the gathering is to “build our movement for 2020.”

The doors open for the Douglass event at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, and it is open to the public.
