Memphis Light, Gas and Water says progress is being made to restore power after three storms with winds up to 75 mph caused outages for approximately 216,000 customers this week.
As of 11 p.m. Saturday, fewer than 17,000 MLGW customers are still without power.
“To expedite the restoration process our crews are prioritizing outages that will bring back the largest number of customers as swiftly as possible,” the release said. “Additionally, we are dedicating some crews to restoring those customers who have been without power since Tuesday evening.”

The release added that with good weather forecast over the weekend, crews “expect to make good progress on repairs.”
MLGW customers should call 211 for emergency shelter and other resources. Customers are also advised to stay away from downed powerlines and to not touch or cut limbs across powerlines, as they could be energized.
