Three men have been indicted for their alleged roles in a mass shooting at a local restaurant on March 29.

Kendrick Gray, Johnny Sanford and Damone Sykes were all indicted Nov. 7 for the shooting at Prive, a restaurant and bar in Hickory Hill, that left two people dead and five injured.

Public shootings magnify Memphis crime issue

Gray was indicted on one count of first-degree murder, one count of criminal attempt of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated assault in concert of a robbery, one count of possession of a firearm during a felony and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Sanford was indicted on one count of first-degree murder and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Sykes was indicted on one count of criminal attempt of first-degree murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, one count of aggravated assault in concert of a robbery and possessing a firearm during a felony.

He was also indicted for allegedly stealing a handgun during the robbery.

Two gun-related charges in the 12-count indictment don’t include names, so it’s unclear to whom they correspond.

One bail lowered, one set for suspects in Prive shooting

All three men are out on bond.

Gray’s bail was set at $600,000, and he posted bond on April 27. Sanford’s bail was set at $250,000 and he posted on April 6. Sykes’ bail was lowered from $200,000 to $100,000 on April 13, and he posted bond on May 1.

Bond fees are typically 10% of the full bail amount.

Gray and Sanford will be arraigned in criminal court before Shelby County Criminal Court Division 10 Judge Jennifer Mitchell on Jan. 5, 2024.

Sykes does not have an arraignment date set yet.

Three suspects in custody after Prive shooting

Memphis Police Department officials previously said that a fight in the restaurant spilled out into the parking lot, where the shootout occurred.

During an MPD press conference March 31, Deputy Chief of Investigative Services Paul Wright said he believed the shooting was targeted.

One of the deceased, Terrial Alexander, was found in the parking lot, and the other, Larry Bailey, died after being transported to the hospital, according to affidavits.

Sykes, Gray and Sanford were arrested shortly after the shooting.

Sykes was arrested March 31, Gray on April 2 and Sanford on April 3.
